We all want our kids to be happy, successful and fulfilled, but hey, it turns out that’s not up to us.

Birth order, says Time Magazine, plays a hugely important role in how our kids turn out, no matter how much we nag, beg and bribe.



A study by a group of Norwegians researchers concluded certain characteristics such as intelligence, professionalism, and even adventurousness are linked to where kids stand in their family’s pecking order. Whew! We’re off the hook!



So while we might not have any influence over whether little Johnny becomes a CEO or runs off to Nepal to live with a herd of yaks there is something we can control, apparently, we should be super-nice to our first-borns because they’re more likely to take care of us when we’re old, senile and wandering the streets in our nightgown.
