Recall: Target's "Cars" Backpack

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

About 110,000 game pieces sold with "Cars" backpacks are being recalled by Global Design Concepts.

Small magnets inside the four game pieces that were sold with the "Cars" backpack can fall out and risk being swallowed or aspirated. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforation or blockage, which can be fatal.

The firm has received three reports of a magnet that became loose. No injuries have been reported.

The backpacks were sold at Target stores nationwide from February 2007 through September 2007 for about $13. They were made in China.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled game pieces away from young children and contact the Cars Backpack Recall hotline toll-free at (877) 848-4070 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit the www.carsbackpackrecall.com.
