Celebs reach out to Kanye, and Former Idol contestants sweep last night's American Music Awards.

There’s nothing quite like seeing celebrities take a moment out of their self-absorbed lives to recognize another's sadness. And that's just what happened at last nights AMAs. Yes, there were the usual winners: American Idol alums Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood each took home three awards. But there was also a huge outpouring of compassion for Kanye West's recent loss of his mother. Usher was the first to send a message to Kanye by saying, "I'd like to take a moment to recognize the loss of Kanye West's mother. My heart, my prayers and all of our prayers go out to you Kanye, for the strength in this recovery."

And Usher knows of what he speaks, like Kanye, his mom is also his manager.
