In an exclusive interview, Sgt. Drew Peterson—whose fourth wife, Stacy, has been missing for more than two weeks—told Today host Matt Lauer this morning that "he's not afraid of law enforcement, he's afraid of the media."Peterson denied having anything to do with his fourth wife's disappearance or third wife Kathleen Savio's 2004 bathtub drowning; he told Lauer that he was doing the interview to get the media off his back, and that he hopes they'll leave him and his family alone. Peterson also said that his missing wife told him she "found somebody else," and that he believes she ran off with this person. The Bolingbrook, Illinois, police sergeant has been named a suspect in his wife's disappearance; authorities exhumed Savio's body yesterday as part of their investigation. Peterson sent a letter of resignation to the Bolingbrook Police Department today, where he was a sergeant, resigning effective immediately. Click here for more.
