Glam it Up: Win a Designer Gown

Roberto Cavalli's line debuts at H&M; hysteria ensues.
Jenn's H&M story: "Seeing as how the highly anticipated Roberto Cavalli at H&M collection was only debuting in a mere 10 stores nationwide (talk about elitist!) I sensed this marriage of designer and budget retailer would send shock waves through the fashion world. And I was ready, with my game face on.
Dressed in lightly layered clothing (allowing me to forego hectic dressing room lines so I can try on clothes in the middle of the store with modesty) and armed with an oversized satchel bag (to shove my purchases in without too much strain on my arms), I arrived at H&M first thing in the morning, and was met by throngs of women who clearly shared my passion.
A seasoned fashion editor and a die-hard shopaholic, it’s safe to say I’ve seen my share of frenzied catfights at designer sample sales, private trunk shows and the like. But this event took the cake. As soon as the doors opened, sheer pandemonium broke out. Women clobbered the racks, grabbing anything and everything (chiffon leopard print blouses, glittering cocktail dresses, tuxedo jackets and all) that they could get their hands on, with no regard for safety, or correct size, for that matter.
It was survival of the fashion fittest, and I was among some incredibly feisty femmes. I put up a good fight, snatching a cardigan off the ground that one woman had absentmindedly dropped, and was literally mauled at times, women were clawing and pulling clothes straight out of people’s arms. In a blink of an eye, the racks were completely bare.
It was eight minutes past the 10 a.m. opening time, and the whole escapade left me speechless. I had witnessed Cavalli’s limited-edition collection sell out in record time, and I had very little to show for it. What’s a fashionista to do? Bargain, of course! Shortly thereafter, the savviest of shoppers hung around, waiting for go-backs from the dressing room while we stealthily scoured what every other person had to offer and bartered our way to the possessions we really wanted. A satin bustier in exchange for a zebra print scarf I happened to yank away from another shopper? Deal."
LOOOOVE it! Sounds like H&M was the place to be! jenn, you are so lucky!
I went too and I couldn’t get a thing. The dressing rooms lines were sooo long and there were so many people. I’ll know better next time. Great story! It really captured the essence of the event.

Love!
