Kids Not Doomed by Early Behavior Problems

Two landmark studies could revolutionize the understanding and treatment of troubled children and those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). In one study, researchers found that kindergartners who acted out ended up doing as well academically as their better-behaved classmates by the time they all reached fifth grade. In the other study, imaging techniques showed that, while the brains of children with ADHD took longer to develop than the brains of non-ADHD kids, they eventually attained the same level of development.
