According to the fourteenth annual "City Crime Rankings: Crime in Metropolitan America" report published by CQ Press, Detroit is the most dangerous city in the U.S. Last year's crime leader, St. Louis, fell to number two. Another Michigan city—Flint—ranked third, followed by Oakland, California; Camden, New Jersey; Birmingham, Alabama; and Cleveland. Mission Viejo, California, was ranked as the safest U.S. city. The report looked at FBI crime stats on homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and auto theft in 378 cities. Each crime category was considered separately and weighed based on its seriousness, CQ Press said. To see if your city made the list, click here.
