Nicole Richie celebrated Mommyhood with a Wizard of Oz-themed extravaganza.

As we reported yesterday, Nicole Richie celebrated her baby on the way this weekend at an Oz-themed bash at The Beverly Hilton hotel, organized by celebrity party planner Mindy Weiss. Although The Simple Life star asked guests to bring their favorite children’s book to help build a library instead of splurging on fancy presents, several guests gifted Richie with cool finds from NoMi Boutique in Los Angeles. Click through the flipbook to see what Richie received, and to enter to win a gift of your own!

I love that she did a Wizard of Oz theme. What was the theme of YOUR baby shower, Moms? Mine was “Pea in a Pod.” I just threw a shower for my friend having twins and the theme was “Double Happiness” (Asian theme).

I think it’s great that she asked for books, instead of clothes or useless room accessories like Christina Aguilera asked for!

We didn’t really have a theme for my baby shower… I was having a boy, and his nursery theme was dinosaurs so I got a lot of dino things.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, I don’t think you can measure life in terms of years. I think longevity doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with happiness. I mean happiness comes from facing challenges and going out on a limb and taking risks. If you’re not willing to take a risk for something you really care about, you might as well be dead.
