A Momologue by Jackie: Once again I've learned to never say never.

""Just four short years ago, a friend of mine told me she was minivan shopping. 'Do NOT become one of those moms!' I half-jokingly argued with her.
Fast forward three years later. There I sat, along with my husband
and two boys under two, signing the paperwork for our
brand-spankin’-new, silver Honda Odyssey Touring model. It's been
exactly one year that I've been driving the "Hotyssey," as I so
lovingly refer to it because, in it, I am the hottest mom out there. I
have to skip the hairspray because I. am. just. so. on. fire.
GPS, DVD, sensors that keep me from squishing little boys in the doors, a rear camera so I can ALWAYS see what's behind me, enough room that, if I chose to but I won't, had three more kids, I could still toss 'em in the back and drive forever while they… wait for it… PLAY VIDEO GAMES! It's true. Sometimes I think my husband would rather be a kid and climb back there himself.
Recently, the hubby and I went furniture shopping and, by the end of the day, our minivan was packed with two kids, an oversized living room chair, a double jogging stroller, and at least five shopping bags. We still had plenty of room! There are people in New York who can fit less stuff in their apartments. We could fit like 150 clowns in our car!
But it wasn't always smooth mini-vanning. When we first got the car, I found myself trying to hide if I was driving without the kids in the car with me. I don't suggest ducking down while going 30 mph. It makes it tough to drink your coffee and chat on your cell. (kidding, people) When you've got a brood to cruise with, the ride is sweet. But a mom trying to hold on to her "I used to have a cool car" former self, is useless when driving the MV. Although my childless girlfriends didn't seem to make fun of me when I was the driver of their six drunk asses on a rare girls' night out.
I love my Honda Odyssey! There, I said it.

I agreed to buy a minivan for my wife and I and our three kids three years ago, when we only had 2 kids. Totally hesitant to buy a MV, but knew that I had to. The Honda Odyssey rocks! My wife loved the car, and even I liked driving it. No shame here…I even drive it alone on quick trips to the market…Minnie Mouse ball on the antenna and all !!

Less we forget the Toyota Sienna with the DVD player and room for the dog. These cars are the perfect replacement for the station wagon, I grew up in. LUV them.

I LOVE MY MINIVAN and am not ashamed! Own it Mamas! I am really short and its the only car where I can buckle in my kids easily. If you are too proud to get a minivan, you’re making a big mistake. Take the plunge!

Hate a minivan-not for me!

I have an SUV. My kids are young and I don’t feel like we ‘need’ a minivan. But my husband rode in one last weekend. And he actually liked it, and said it was ‘nice.’ So I think the minivan is coming. Sooner than I thought it would.

Ahhh this totally cracked me up - I almost think I could have written it and I am DYING laughing at the “hotyssey”. We just purchased our Honda Odyssey and I WAS A “NEVER” person too! Now, I forget what the outside looks like b/c the inside is SO FREAKING COOL! Besides my kids LOVE IT and I love to drive places because everyone is comfortable (including our two dogs)!! YEAH!!!
BTW - Our daughter named ours “Toots” and we laugh and sing the song “Let me see that tootsie roll” when we drive out the driveway!

Yes this is so true and cracked me up because I too got the Honda Odyssey not too long ago and cried tears and whined for 3 weeks to my husband to take it back to the dealership for a cool car. But now that the baby is here I too love my Odyssey!

I am a “I will never drive a minivan” and I have been for a long time. But I now have a six month old little boy. We drive a Toyota Corolla and there is NO room. Funny when I was single I had almost too much room. Me and my husband want more kids and I fear the minivan will be coming in a few years. Maybe with baby number 2.
