Pill increases risk of cervical cancer

Women who take oral contraceptives run a higher risk of developing cervical cancer, but that risk reverts to normal about 10 years after they go off the pill, according to a University of Oxford study published in Lancet. Researchers say the study reinforces the need for routine screening for cervical cancer, which is commonly caused by the sexually transmitted human papillomavirus.
