Pill increases risk of cervical cancer

Women who take oral contraceptives run a higher risk of developing cervical cancer, but that risk reverts to normal about 10 years after they go off the pill, according to a University of Oxford study published in Lancet. Researchers say the study reinforces the need for routine screening for cervical cancer, which is commonly caused by the sexually transmitted human papillomavirus. For more on this report click here.
