Валютный рынок наступивший 2009 год встретил под знаком ожидания снижения базовой процентной ставки Европейским Центробанком. Предпосылок для снижения хоть отбавляй: здесь и декабрьский обвал сводного индекса делового и потребительского доверия к экономике еврозоны до рекордного минимума с начала расчета индикатора в 1985 году, и возросшая до максимального значения за два года безработица, и ослабление инфляции. Сочетания этих трех причин вполне достаточно для снижения ставки. Учитывая последнюю причину, удешевление денег становится неизбежно. «Инфляционный тренд сейчас очень благоприятен, — отмечает старший экономист по европейским рынкам Fortis в Амстердаме Ник Кунис. — Это дает ЕЦБ возможность для маневров в плане снижения ставок». При этом отметим, что заседание ЕЦБ состоится уже на следующей неделе. Согласно форвардным контрактам на уровень процентной ставки в еврозоне, инвесторы ожидают ее уменьшения, как минимум, на 0,5 процентного пункта — до 2 проц., минимального уровня за три года. На фоне этих ожиданий курс доллара и вырос к евро. На закрытии торгов в пятницу европейская валюта стоила 1,3429 долл., тогда как 31 декабря за евро давали 1,3969 долл. За неделю стоимость евро опустилась на 3,3 проц., что стало максимальным падением с октября 2008 года. «Рынок фокусирует внимание на том, что предпримет ЕЦБ, — отмечает валютный стратег BNP Paribas Securities в Нью-Йорке Себастьен Гэли. — Ожидания снижения ставки растут, и инвесторы все более негативно оценивают перспективы евро».
