More shocking info from (who pays for these?) new studies.

Are you ready for this? Babies cause stress in marriage. Yep, it's true. In fact, CNN did a whole piece on it. It does feel a bit obvious, but at the same time it's nice to know we weren't the only ones with tiny babies who hated the sight and sound of our significant others during those first months. In fact, 92 percent of couples admit to having more problems after baby arrives, and 25 percent of divorces happen before the first child is 18 months old. Now that some of us are past those months, we just want to shout from the rooftops that it does actually get better.

Did having a baby stir up trouble in your home?

Next up: New research out of the University of Alberta in Edmonton finds that kids who say they do well in athletics are also happy with the number of friends they have. What are you telling us— jocks are popular?

And, not to be outdone in the "that seems obvious" category, the NY Times reports recent findings that men prefer movies with more fantasy and less reality. Funny, they seem to prefer life that way too.

You and your partner DEFINITELY need to have a healthy/stable relationship during the first several months of your first child’s life. Everything is turned COMPLETELY upside-down, you almost never get to do anything together (including basic things like: eating meals together), and everyone is cranky from lacking sleep. And yes, it does get better, even though it may sometimes seem like ‘next week’ is an eternity away. That first birthday, especially of your first child, is an amazing day, for so many reasons.

I agree. It got so much better that I was pregnant by that first birthday. Two under the age of two. Now that was a challange. What was helpful to me was to realize that my relationship difficulties were situational, and that things would not be like this forever.
