Hi. my name is Michelle and I hace a 3 and 1/2 yr old son An thony, he is a primi born due to a car accident. I am having the hardest time potty training him he just refuses to sit on that seat and go,.. he sas for me a couple of times I do the bribing thing with an m&m if he goes, I ask him all day log, I even put him on the potty and sit with him, I talk to him about how he is ta big boy and he should be going in the potty not a diaper (pull-up). He is in pre-school now and I try to explain to him that the other children go in the bathroom now too and he is a big boy too and he also should be going in the potty like his friends, he just shows no intrest. His Peds Dr. Tells me because he is a premi and a boy I should not show too much concern, when he is ready he will go. But my 9 yr. old was potty trained at around 2 and frankly I believe at his age, he should be at least showing some intrest. I am getting worried. Are there any moms out there that may offer some advice about this situation for me? I would appreciate it. Thank You.
Michelle

get him an anatomically correct baby boy doll and tell him to “teach,” his boy (not baby)doll how to go to the bathroom. This really works!

Hi everyone I have a 4 year old boy he just started to go by himself but it was so difficult he refused to go the bathroom and the potty training pampers were making difficult for me so I decided to take away all the pamper and buy underwear for him so he knew he could do it on the underwear so he decided to finally go to the bathroom, I couldn’t belived it after so many things I had done this actually works so in 3 days he was going in the bathroom by himself and bye bye pampers.
Try it out it my work for you.
Thanks Tania

Michelle, every child is different. He is simply not ready. My four children all potty-trained at different ages. When he is ready, it will happen very easily. If it’s difficult, it’s time to back off and try again in a few months. If he isn’t ready it’ll just be frustrating for you and uncomfortable for him. Give you both a break and try again in the future. Good luck!
