If there’s one thing we all like to do on this planet, it's make babies. By Dec. 31, 2007, our population grew by 77,047,850 tiny little people. That’s a lot of burping, a lot spit-up and of course, millions and millions of proud parents. Most of the births, we must say, were just your regular garden-variety deliveries, but a few stand out as nothing short of amazing.
Do-it-Yourself Grandchildren
In Brazil, a 51-year-old was a surrogate for her own daughter and
successfully delivered twins. Yes, that’s right, SHE GAVE BIRTH TO HER
OWN GRANDCHILDREN. Gee, thanks Mom! And as we all know, there’s nothing
more beautiful than watching Mom breast-feed your own child.
You’ve got to be hearty if you live in Siberia. And no one represents sturdy stock better than Tatyana Barabanova, 43 who gave birth to her 12th child, Nadia, weighing in at 17 solid pounds. Put into perspective, that’s like giving birth to an average-sized watermelon. And as long as we’re doing fruit/baby comparisons, the average baby weighs in at around 7 pounds, the size of an everyday cantaloupe.
67-Year Old Gives Birth to Twins
You’re never too old to get knocked up! Just ask the 67-year-old woman in Spain who gave birth to twins. Hey, having kids later in life can come in handy. When she’s 82, her teenager can use his or her learner's permit to drive her to an old folks' home.

That’s right, double your pleasure, double your morning sickness. And we’re not talking about having twins. Beverly Robinson 32, actually conceived twice in one month and gave birth to two healthy girls. Reports say there’s only a one in a million chance of this freaky phenomenon occurring—but sorry, that’s just not high enough for us.
There's a Cell Phone Light at the End of the Tunnel
A blackout at a Russian hospital called for fast action from nurses. They gathered cell phones and pointed them at the expectant Mom. Out came a healthy boy basking in the glow of the cell phone lights. Think that kid’s going to end up working for the phone company?
