As If We Didn't Hate the Gym Enough

Article reports you can't always believe those gym equipment calorie counts.
Warning: Sometimes ignorance is bliss, so read at your own risk. Recently in the New York Times, there was an article about the inaccuracy of gym equipment and its inability to calculate calories. And we quote: "As for the calorie counts on machines like stationary bicycles and elliptical cross trainers and stair climbers, all bets are off, researchers say." Say it ain't so! When we do manage to motivate and get to the gym, there's nothing more satisfying than looking down after 30 minutes on the Stairmaster to find we burned hundreds and hundreds of calories. Those numbers were the only thing getting our butts off the couch to even get to the gym in the first place! And now we find out they're a lie? What's a Mom to do?
Instead of hitting the gym, we might as well stay home and dive into a pint of mint chocolate chip! How many calories can we burn scooping ice cream? Hmm...it can be really tough when the ice cream is frozen...
