From 'Kid Nation' to Kid Sensation?
The Kid Nation finale airs tonight on CBS

Tonight, the kids of Bonanza City will pack away all their memories of tears at town council, chapped lips, and decapitating chickens and head home. Hopefully, they will march directly into the office of a qualified therapist.
First of all, we’re not going to lie, we love Kid Nation. And several of us on the Mom•Logic staff will be huddled around the TV with our families tonight to find out who will get that final rose… wait, wrong show, we mean, who will get that last $25,000 gold star.
But that aside, we’ve got to wonder what happens to these kids after their 15 minutes (really 23 minutes, not including commercials) is over. Many of the kids already have agents and are clearly on the path to a career in showbiz. Ask Britney, being a child star isn’t easy. Or better yet, just turn on the television, which some days seems like “The 24 Hour Britney Meltdown Channel.”
For this tiny nation of kids, the repercussions of their time in the
spotlight, albeit short, might last for years to come. When asked how
the kids will fare after the cameras are turned off, Family counselor
and friend of Mom•Logic Rosanne Tobey, LPC says “It’s difficult to cope
with reality when you’ve had a huge dose of non-reality.” Show business
is no picnic but reality show business has got to be that much harder. On last week's episode when Sanjay said “Bonanza City is the only place I really fit in,” our hearts broke.
Oh, Sanjay, we hope that’s not really true—Unless, of course, Kid Nation gets picked up for a second season.
