Happy New (yawn) Year!

Are the days of dance clubs and too much champagne gone for good?

Remember the good ole days—piling into a car with your girlfriends, waiting in line to get in to a club and kissing cute guys at the stroke of midnight? Yeah, we don't either. New Year's Eve takes on a whole new meaning after you've had kids. But if you're still adventurous and want to include the kids, First Night festitivites happen in many cities across the country. They're very family-friendly and a lot of fun! If you'd rather stay close to home, choose a time earlier than midnight (the kids don't know the difference) and have some friends over to celebrate— don't forget the noise makers!). Once you've gotten the kids to bed, why not watch the perfect NYE movie: When Harry Met Sally, Love Actually or Moonstruck are some of our office favorite romantic comedies.
The Moms around the office will be earning their wild and crazy reputation when it comes to ringing in the New Year—in fact, many of us will be partying with Ryan Seacrest and Dick Clark. And by "partying," we mean "watching." Check it out:
•Three Moms admit to finding a friend who gets east coast shows on
satellite TV. They get together with friends and the kids and watch the
ball drop at 9 p.m.—and everyone's home by 9:30. One Mom adds, "if my
husband is up past 10, it's a miracle."
•Another Mom hosts some friends earlier in the day and spends alone time with her hubby—dancing and snuggling by a fire.
•One goes to a friend's house and orders food with the family
•Another goes all out with a family project. "My husband, girls and I
each choose a country. We research that country and try a recipe for an
appetizer, something sweet, and maybe a drink from that culture. Each
of us takes a turn with our presentation on the hour starting around 7.
The kids are really into it and we actually learn something!"
•One actually gets a sitter and ventures out. "Last year, we got tickets last minute to see Lyle Lovett."

Our Children’s Museum has a New Year’s Eve celebration at the stroke of NOON! This is going to be our first year going, but we’ve heard that they have a parade, a countdown and lots of noise. Then we plan to party the evening away at a two year old’s birthday party.
