Thank God It's Friday, um...Gregory

An Italian court rules a couple can't give their child the name Friday.

The Italians, known for their fancy shoes and ices, are also sticklers for proper baby names. Parents of a newborn child were told to change their infant's name from the unique “Friday,” to the saintly “Gregory,” because of an Italian statute barring parents from giving "ridiculous or shameful" first names to children.

Wow! If that law was passed in the U.S, how on earth would celebrities name their kids? What would be the fate of My Name is Earl star Jason Lee's son Pilot Inspekter? Would Gretchen Mol have to change her son's name from Ptolemy to Tim?

You can’t escape it, weird baby names are everywhere. Recently, a Chinese couple tried to name their son “@,” presumably to kill two birds with one stone by giving him a name AND an email address. What do you think of the odd baby name phenomenon?

I think this low is a bit unfair. They should do a list of bad names, like curses, and only that name to prohibit.
