What Ashley Tisdale's Nose Knows

Wednesday, December 5, 2007

High School Musical's Ashley Tisdale went under the knife.

High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale admitted this week to getting a nose job to fix a "deviated septum" (the standard reason given for every Hollywood rhinoplasty). This newsflash definitely got the Moms in the office talking. One Mom•Logic mom got a nose job at 21, and it was an instant boost to her self-confidence. However, her Mom was none too happy about her changing  "the family nose" and she even cried before, during, and after, mourning her beautiful "before" daughter. Another Mother here says her Mom strongly "encouraged" her to get a nose job her whole life, and even gave her the gift of surgery for her 18th birthday. As a result, she grew up feeling extremely insecure about her nose, and swears she'll never do the same to her own daughter, no matter how big her nose is.

If your daughter says she wants plastic surgery, what's a Mom to do? Instead of just brushing her off, "You always want to treat your child and the feelings she has with respect," advises L.P.C. and friend of Mom•Logic Rosanne Tobey. "Ask her why she feels she needs plastic surgery, so you can really find out what's going on. If you really feel like it's a legitimate issue, urge her to wait. Her body isn't finished growing and developing yet, and it's quite possible she will 'grow into' her nose. She needs to just wait and see."

What if you want your daughter to have surgery? "If you tell your daughter she needs plastic surgery, you are essentially telling your child 'you're not good enough,'" Tobey warns. "Don't make her feel badly about herself and damage her self esteem. Unless she brings this up on her own, you should just keep those thoughts to yourself." To us, that's just as plain as the nose on your face. (Sorry, we couldn't resist.)

Sniff out our photo gallery of suspected celebrity "fixed deviated septums" below.

I think we’ve been told far too long that we’re not perfect unless we look like Jessica Simpson I think it’s a shame that young girls have to be that stressed over their noses, their breasts, their butts - and the pressure put on them every, single day to look like Jessica Simpson, makes this stress unavoidable. I personally am tired of every single singer and actress look exactly alike, you can’t tell them apart anymore. That being said - if I was fabulously wealthy, they’d be sucking fat out of me from the top of my forehead to the tip of my toes.

The tabloids really need to do some research. In the case of a TRUE deviated septum repair, the surgery is done inside the nose and will therefore NOT drastically alter the look of the person’s nose much at all. Wait until we get pictures of Ashley’s (or any other celeb’s) “healed” nose. You’ll be able to tell if the deviated septum “excuse” was really an excuse or not. And even if it WAS a nose job in Ashley’s case - which I don’t believe, as she admitted to being scared, hoping this solved the problem, that she’d never have to go through this again, and has admitted in past interviews that she doesn’t believe in plastic surgery - at least she’s woman enough to admit it. Personally, with the way Hollywood is, if it was truly unnecessary surgery, I would think she’d opt for a breast augmentation before a supposed “nose job”.

Hi everyone. All human situations have their inconveniences. We feel those of the present but neither see nor feel those of the future; and hence we often make troublesome changes without amendment, and frequently for the worse. I am from Cyprus and also now’m speaking English, tell me right I wrote the following sentence: “Inactive ingredients - colloidal silicon dioxide, nf; hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, usp; magnesium stearate, nf; microcrystalline cellulose, nf; sodium starch glycolate, nf.” Thank you so much for your future answers ;-).
