Kids of the candidates... are they the unsung heroes of the presidential race?
They say that behind every great man, there's a great woman. But when it comes to the run for president, behind every great man or woman, there are some hard-working kids. While one candidate's offspring is better known for supporting someone other than dear old Dad — per The New York Times, Giuliani's daughter, Caroline, was busted as a part of a pro-Obama Facebook group, but other candidates' kids have put their lives on hold to support their parents...
“He always said to us, ‘We've gotten all kinds of blessings and other people haven't. We need to give back,"' said Cate Edwards in a CBS interview. "And that's something he always instilled in us."
Here's more scoop straight from the candidates' kids' mouths....
In Chelsea Clinton's classic “tight-lipped” fashion: “I'm sorry, I don't talk to the press, and that applies to you, unfortunately. Even though I think you're cute," said Chelsea when a kid reporter asked if Bill would be a good “first man.”
When people criticize father Mike Huckabee, daughter Sarah says she wants to: “walk right over and punch them, but obviously I can’t do that,” in an interview with Time.com.
“McCain made it clear tonight that, despite his changing rhetoric on immigration, that he still wants to allow almost all 12 million illegal aliens to remain here indefinitely. My Dad says that's a form of amnesty,” said son Tagg Romney on Five Brothers: The Romney Campaign Blog. “He and Fred Thompson are the only two on the stage who seem to realize this. The liberal commentators don't pick up on this, but the voters certainly will.
“Politics is so closed off and it’s so scary to so many people; it’s elusive and it’s something they can’t connect to,” said Meghan McCain on her new blog, McCain Blogette. “It’s my life and I know that people are curious about presidential campaigns and campaign candidates. And I just want to show everyone what it’s like.”
