Do Botox and baby mix?: Is it okay to get those crow's feet erased when you're growing a baby in your belly? According to an ABC News report, the answer is no. "I can't tell you it's not safe, but I can tell you it's not advisable," said Donnica Moore, the president of Sapphire Women's Health Group based in New Jersey. "In pregnancy, our general premise is that any type of medical treatment or intervention that justifies the risks … is OK to use, but there is no medical justification for Botox cosmetic in pregnancy." Moms-to-be, take heart: When you're preggers, all the focus is on your tummy, anyway. No one will notice a few extra wrinkles, trust us.
Honey, time for dinner: Sitting down for regular family meals may protect teen girls from developing eating disorders, according to a new study published in the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. MSNBC reports that Dr. Dianne Neumark-Sztainer and colleagues from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis found that adolescent girls who ate five or more meals each week with their families were approximately one third less likely to engage in extreme weight control behaviors, such as making themselves vomit, taking diet pills and abusing diuretics or laxatives than girls who ate less frequently with their families. Lead leads to Alzheimer's?: The Daily Mail reports that children exposed to lead in old paint, Victorian water pipes, and unsafe toys could be at risk of Alzheimer's later in life. A study shows that even small amounts of the dangerous metal in the first few years can cause changes in the brain associated with the devastating disease.
