Jail Time for Dr. Phil?

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

Apparently, evaluating Britney Spears outside his studio was illegal.

This morning, the Today show discussed the unfortunate way Dr. Phil handled the Britney Spears situation. It turns out that visiting Britney and then talking about her mental state was not only insensitive...it was illegal. Because Dr. Phil is not a licensed psychologist in the the state of California, treating someone outside of his studio (without a signed release) is a crime.

If some TV "psychologist" was making public statements about our kids' mental health, we would be pissed. Do you think Dr. Phil should do time? Comment below.

I think the hole thing is way out of wack. The man went to speak to a troubled girl at the request of her parents. He is smart and has very good ideas and good conections that could of helped. He did nothing wron in my opinion and the spears family is only looking to blame someone and take eyes of the problem. It is not working. She is a mess and needs lots of help. I think the ones most angry and adding fuel to this is the other tv docs that did not get asked to go. Dr. Ablow and others. That is what people get for trying to help

You know, you try to help someone. I think Dr. Phil is cool. I like him. He tries to help out Britney and what does he get? This. Isn’t it obvious by now? Britney is a black hole. An inconceivably dense object from which nothing escapes: not matter, not light, definitely not a career! So now you have other nimrod TV doctors chiming in and talking about how Dr. Phil was wrong. Well, no one asked. If I cared what Dr. Drew had to say, I’d become a patient of his and go to his office. I think that Dr. Phil should serve no time for this. Britney’s a bag full of crazy and someone should step up to the plate and pull the brake on this train wreck before it hits a mattress and derails.

Gimme a BREAK, isn’t there more important things to go after? Give this guy a break, he was just trying to help that poor girl.

He was just trying to jump on the Brit-wagon and getting himself some press. Totally irresponsible.

People need to realize Dr. Phil isn’t a real doctor - he’s a TV personality and will do anything to get ratings. Even if the family did ask him to speak to Britney, it was still wrong of him to talk to the media about it. But that’s no reason to put him jail - how about spending our tax dollars on putting away REAL criminals?
