Ellen Is America’s Favorite TV Personality
Talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres tops the list of America’s favorite TV personalities, according to a Harris poll. (Oprah, Jay Leno, Hugh Laurie, and Jon Stewart round out the top five.) Ellen has placed in the top five for the last five years, but this is the first time she edged out fellow gabber Oprah for the number-one slot. We say that calls for an Ellen dance!

Mitt Romney Wins Michigan Primary
After devastating defeats in Iowa and New Hampshire, the Michigan native-turned-Massachusetts governor beat Arizona Senator John McCain (who came in second) and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee (who came in third) in the Republican primary. “Tonight proves you can’t tell an American there’s something they just can’t do because Americans can do whatever they set their hearts on, and tonight is a victory of optimism over Washington-style pessimism,” Romney said from Southfield, Michigan. (Voters must be taking a cue from reality shows: If you don't want to see your favorite eliminated, you have to cast your vote!)

Truck Found in Hotel Parking Lot Belongs to Wanted Marine: Police
After four days, the manhunt for Corporal Cesar Armando Laurean—the prime suspect in the murder of 20-year-old Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach and her unborn child—continues, with a $25,000 reward being offered. Authorities urge citizens to pay attention to strangers and compare their likenesses to photos of the wanted Marine, which are being posted on TV and billboards nationwide.

Writers' Strike Has Oscar Producers Preparing Contingency Plan
Instead of putting together one Oscar ceremony, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is moving forward with plans for two. In light of the Writers Guild of America strike, producers are making arrangements for the usual star-studded gala (scheduled for February 24), as well as an alternative show that's likely to rely on industry heavyweights writing their own material. (Let's hope that back-to-back episodes of American Idol will air at the same time.)

U.S. Baby Boomlet
In 2006, nearly 4.3 million bundles of joy were born in the United States, making it the largest number of births in 45 years. Experts believe that there are multiple reasons for the increase, including poor education, poverty, and a decline in contraceptive use. We have another theory: So many celebrities are giving birth, it's starting to seem glamorous.
