Teaching Daughters to Hate Themselves

Monday, January 21, 2008

Loathe your body? Your kid might loathe hers, too.

Today, Tyra explores mother/daughter body image issues, discussing how harmful body image issues are often passed down from generation to generation. She speaks with three young women who say that witnessing their mother's obsession with her body fueled their own insecurities. One Mom even admits that she sometimes regrets getting pregnant so young, because it ruined her figure!

Check out 10-year-old Crystal as she discusses her Mom's body image issues and how they affect her own.

Do you think you're passing on your body image issues to your daughter? Comment below.

Yeah I hope so too. People need to learn tolerance, so what if someone has a few more pounds, that doesn’t make them a bad person.
