Mom•Logic sat down for an interview with Kym Douglas, mother of one and author of the new book, The Black Book of Hollywood Diet Secrets.
Oh, to be a celebrity, they have all the good secrets. That's why we're such big fans of Kym's books. First she brought us The Black Book of Hollywood Beauty Secrets, and now she's letting us in on superstar dieting tricks in her new book The Black Book of Hollywood Diet Secrets with co-author Cindy Pearlman. All our favorite celebs are spilling the beans: Oprah, Demi, Gwyneth, even our favorite supermodel Mom, Heidi Klum!
Here's our top 5 favorites:
5. The Super Model Salad Trick: Super model and Mom Heidi Klum eats a salad dressed with vinegar before going out to dinner. The vinegar works as an appetite suppressant and helps stop her from reaching for that breadbasket baguette.
4. Benefiber Buzz: Many celebs put Benefiber in their yogurt, eggs, coffee, and even sprinkle it on their salads. It is odorless, tasteless, and dissolves. The Benefiber fills you up and helps with the snack cravings we all tend to get before lunch and dinnertime. (available at most health food stores)
3. Matcha Green Tea: Some Moms call it "The 3 O'Clock Drop," the plummetting in energy that happens once the kids get out of school. Instead of grabbing a Snickers bar for that extra burst of energy, have a cup of Matcha Green Tea. It is a highly concentrated version of green tea. It boosts your metabolism, and gives you the energy you need to get through the rest of the day.
2. Prunes: Superstar Mom Demi Moore eats prunes. Really. And she does it to help prevent bloating and wrinkles. If you’re not a fan of prunes, try chopping them up and putting them in minced beef next time you make a hamburger. It will cut the fat by 40% and you can't even taste it!
1. Small Plates Only!: Next time you sit down for dinner, instead of eating on a regular-sized dinner plate, try eating on a salad-sized plate. It tricks your mind into thinking you're finishing an entire plate of food, and you get full faster. This is a trick used by Elizabeth Hurley.
If you want to go the extra mile, eat off a BLUE salad-sized plate. Scientific research shows that blue is the least appetizing color, and eating with that color plate will decrease your appetite.
