This Could Save Your Kid's Life

One Mom's tragedy made us stop and take action.
The tragedy: A six-year-old boy died after a large television set fell on top of him, reports ABC-7. The coroner said that the boy was climbing up and reaching for ice skates on top of the TV.
Take action: Heavy television sets placed upon dressers or entertainment centers can be deadly for tots if they topple over. The Consumer Product Safety Commission received reports of 36 TV tip-over-related deaths and 65 furniture tip-over deaths from 2000 to 2005. More than 80% of all these deaths involved young children. Anchor all entertainment units, TV stands, bookcases, shelving and bureaus to the wall using appropriate hardware, such as brackets, screws, or toggles. The Anti-Tip Furniture Strap 2-Pack is $3.95, and can be ordered here. Then, anchor the TV to the dresser with these Safety Straps, which run $14.95. well if they would have had this $20 product combo (or $18.90) their son might be alive right now. Isn’t your kid’s life worth $20? I don’t think the parents are blaming the product. But this is just an unfortunate reminder to us all that we need to child-proof every little thing in the house, even when kids are 6 and up. I for one am ordering these right now for every bureau and TV in my house.

Another story where parents are blaming the product. Parents need to assume some of the responsibility of watching their children. Who would put iceskates on top of a TV anyway? IMO they are at fault.
