Mary Lauterbach speaks candidly about her daughter's disappearance and murder.

This morning, the mother of 20-year-old slain pregnant marine Maria Lauterbach appeared for the first time on national television since her pregnant daughter's body had been discovered. In an exclusive interview on the Today show, Mary Lauterbach revealed how a three-page email she sent authorities regarding her daughter's disappearance was taken out of context and potentially hindered the initial investigation.

The fact that she called her daughter a "compulsive liar" was soon leaked to the media, and now this Mom has to live with that for the rest of her life. Have you ever revealed something negative about your child in an effort to help? Did it ever backfire?

Yes, I told my son’s first grade teacher he had problems sitting still so she might want to put him in the front of the class. After that, I feel like she labeled him a “problem child.” I wish I would have never said anything. I am very careful about what I tell teachers now.
