'Mom, This Oscar is for You'

Monday, February 25, 2008

Javier Bardem takes home an Oscar for his role in No Country for Old Men and thanks his Mom.

The Spanish actor paid tribute to his mother during his acceptance speech when he lovingly spoke to her in Spanish. Those of us who don't speak Spanish had no idea what he said, but we could tell it was sweet by her reaction.

What's your favorite sport?

The translation is..."Mom, this is for you, for your grandparents, for your parents Rafael and Matilde, for the comedians of Spain who, like you, have brought dignity and pride to our profession. This is for Spain and this is for all of us you."  He's going to have trouble topping this gift on  Mother's Day!

I saw his acceptance speech. And it was adorable. :)
