Stop the stubble--the eco-way.
As if it wasn't hard enough for Moms to get inspired to shave their legs, now we have to worry about carcinogens in shaving creams and gels? To get the scoop how to get skin smooth safely, check out Mom and EcoFabulous editor-in-chief Zem Joaquin's tips:
- Avoid the 'dirty dozen': There are about 14 known carcinogens that you should avoid, says Zem. Just check the ingredients on your fave shaving cream. If it says fragrance, PEG or anything that ends in -xynol, toss it out! Take a peek at Skin Deep, where you can type in common brands and get a run-down of the nasties inside.
- Try these instead: Zem loves Tom's of Maine, Kiss My Face, and Alba Botanica products. For Moms who like gels better than creams, Zia is Zem's top pick.
- You're not Sweeney Todd: Disposable razors typically cause skin irritation. Use razors that have changeable plates, says Zem. Try Preserve--they make their razor handles out of 100% recycled plastic.
