Kate Winslet wants to save a Mom's life: Thousands of mothers in New York have teamed up to find a bone-marrow donor for Lisa Gershowitz Flynn, a 41-year-old mother of two. Winslet is using her celebrity to promote the GiftforLisa.com Web site and hopes their Mom movement will help Lisa, who, according to doctors, may only have four to six weeks to live without a donor.

Big Brother contestant shows his ignorance: House member Adam Jasinski referred to people with autism as "retarded" on last week's episode, and now Autism United is calling for Viacom and CBS to cancel the show and issue an apology. The Executive Director of Autism United says they have already contacted show advertisers.

A quarter of women experience domestic violence:
A new survey from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention finds that nearly 25% of U.S. women are victims of domestic abuse. If you or someone you know needs help, click here.

Book with two penguin dads sparks outrage: And Tango Makes Three, a children's book based on a true story of two male penguins in the Central Park Zoo who hatched and parented a baby penguin together, was pulled from the shelves at a Virginia school library. Parents complained that the book promoted homosexuality, while supporters are claiming censorship.

This is right off their website btw.

Note on the NY Post Story: To clarify some facts, it is not true that Lisa may die in the next 4-6 weeks. She does need a transplant urgently and the sooner the better.

Kate Winslet has NO involvement in this situation. We apologize to her, as Lisa’s family was not the source of that information.

We are also not only looking to recruit for Lisa’s ethnicity but for all ethnicities and grow the donor banks, especially for minorities, so many more people can live!

Regarding the book pulled off library shelves: “any book worth banning is a book worth reading!”

I just read this story and It brought tears to my eyes. I think that Kate is a beautiful person and so compassionate. To give her time to do something as wonderful as this. She is the best.
Way to go Kate.

I had a desire to begin my own company, nevertheless I did not earn enough of money to do it. Thank goodness my mate said to utilize the mortgage loans. Hence I used the car loan and made real my old dream.
