A deployed soldier returns home for the birth of his second set of twins.
In 2004, Elisa Nethers of Newark, Ohio gave birth to twin girls (conceived without the use of fertility drugs). At the time of their delivery, her husband, Brandon, was half a world away, stationed in Iraq. When she and her husband decided to try for a boy nine months ago, she got pregnant again--this time, with twin boys! Since her husband was on his second tour of duty in Iraq, Elisa, 22, faced the possibility of going this delivery alone, as well.
But Brandon just returned home for two weeks of leave in anticipation of the twins' birth. "My due date is February 28th, but with twins, they think I can go any time now," Elisa told Mom•Logic. "We hope we'll have the babies this weekend, since Brandon is only here two weeks. Brandon is even more excited than I am. He was deployed when I found out I was pregnant, so I had to tell him the news over the phone. He was happy, but at the same time he was sad because he wasn't going to be here for the delivery. But now he is."
What are the odds? (Probably even higher than the odds of having two sets of twins back-to-back without fertility drugs--which, incidentally, is 1 in 10,000.) We'll update you when Elisa gives birth...hopefully soon.
