Mom Has a Beef with Meat

Should your kids be vegetarians just because you are?
Whether you're a vegetarian or just cutting back on meat, Jill's got some easy tips for dinner time:
- Get your honey on board: Jill is lucky to have a meat-eating hubby who supports her choice to raise the kids vegetarian. Without this agreement, mealtime can become a war zone.
- It's all about the protein: Protein is critical for growth and development. Jill swears by beans, eggs, soy protein, tofu dogs, and chickenless nuggets. Of course, pushing fruits and veggies is always encouraged.
- Get 'em involved: Make vegetarian eating fun by letting kids make their own pizza. Simply blend steamed veggies, put them in your tomato sauce, and let your kids choose their toppings.
- Go for the staples: When all else fails, serve pasta with parmesan cheese.
She won’t have a problem knowing her kid prefers to not support an industry which confines, castrates without painkillers, and slaughters billions of animals for people who don’t choose compassion when eating. And it’s not “all about the protein” as we haven’t seen a protein deficiency in over a hundred years in the US. We have seen obesity, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cancer in alarming rates though, and the American Diatetic Association says a vegetarian diet lowers incidence of all of these.
Seriously, all that unhealthiness and torture of animals isn’t worth it. Try soy pepperoni :-)

As long as a vegetarian Mom knows that she is going to have a problem when a kid wants pepperoni pizza at a party, then she can go ahead and raise her kids vegetarian.
