Tonight marks the debut of the HBO documentary, Autism: The Musical. The film, which premieres tonight at 8 p.m., focuses on a group of autistic children who write and perform a musical together.

We spoke to Peter Bell, executive vice president of the autism advocacy organization Autism Speaks, and father of a 15-year-old son with autism. He lauds the film's positive message. "So many things we read about autism focus on what our kids won't be able to do" said Bell. "This movie is about what our kids can do."

Will you watch?

As a special ed teacher, I have been WAITING for someone to start highlighting all of the things that kids with autism CAN do instead of what they can’t do! Hurrah!
