Could sticker shock at the pump convince families to downsize their ride?
It looks like you may want to trade in your minivan for a Miata. CNN reports that gasoline prices have risen to an all-time high. According to a recent survey conducted by AAA, the average price of regular gas rose overnight to $3.24 a gallon, and some stations across the country are charging more than $4 per gallon! That means that a fill-up could cost you at least $60-70 at the gas pump.
Here are savings expert Coupon Mom's tips for saving money at the pump:
- Check your tire pressure: Properly inflated tires lead to better gas mileage and better performance.
- Check your wheel alignment: Making sure your vehicle is properly aligned can save you up to 11 cents per gallon.
- Replace a clogged air filter: Getting rid of this congested part can save Moms as much as 22 cents per gallon.
