Airborne Coughs Up Refunds

The popular cold remedy manufacturer settles a class-action lawsuit, and you may be entitled to cash, mama!
The makers of Airborne, that effervescent cold-buster created by a schoolteacher, have decided to settle false-advertising complaints in a class-action lawsuit for $23.3 million, agreeing to reimburse customers for up to six purchases of Airborne products. "Defendants deny any wrongdoing or illegal conduct, but have agreed to settle the litigation," the company said in a statement. In 2006, ABC News disclosed that the company's clinical trials were not conducted by doctors or scientists, but instead carried out by two laypeople. Ellen,
I think this Airborne settlement is completely rediculous. I am an avid airborne user and I have never once thought that by taking airborne I could not get a cold and I do not remember them making the claim that they prevent the common cold either. From my experience and understanding Airborne is just like a vitamin. As the Airborne packages claim an immune booster. I believe by taking vitamins your immune system IS stronger, therefore living up to the Airborne claims. If you receive a flu shot, does that mean you will not get the flu??? I don’t know the statistics, but I believe you still could get the flu after having a flu shot. And therefore is the same unreasonable arguement as against Airborne. Maybe Airborne can ASSIST in preventing the common cold and maybe it can’t, all I know is from looking at the ingredients taking Airborne cannot hurt.
