The Hills star posed topless shortly after high school graduation.

The Internet was abuzz when topless photos of The Hills' Audrina Partridge surfaced. She reportedly had a photographer friend take them and later submitted the pictures to Playboy

"I was young and very trusting of others, and I didn't know to protect myself. It is a lesson learned, for myself, and hopefully for the young girls who look up to me," Audrina said in her statement.

This story reminds Moms how naive girls can be, especially when it comes to modeling. Many, like Audrina, will take off their clothes for a photo shoot, not considering the repercussions if and when they "leak" to the public. And just think about how many "Want to Be a Model?" ads you've seen. Unfortunately, many of those are scams. Girls are promised fame and fortune if they pay a huge upfront fee, take their clothes off, or both.

"These scams persist because young people and their parents don't know enough about how the modeling and talent industries work," said Teresa A. Santiago, Chairman and Executive Director of the New York State Consumer Protection Board. Tyra devoted an entire episode to modeling scams. For an episode recap, click here.

To avoid modeling scams, teens should:
- Never pay an upfront fee
- Never take their clothes off or put themselves in unsafe situations
- Ask their local Better Business Bureau, consumer protection agency and state attorney general if there are any unresolved consumer complaints on file about the company.

So scary! These kind of people love to prey on young girls who are hungry for fame.
