Top 5: Baby Middle-Name Tips

Choosing a baby's middle name can be as tricky as the first.
We're sure when Barack Obama's Mom chose "Hussein" for his middle name, she wasn't thinking that decision would make international news. Jennifer Moss, CEO of Babynames.com gives us her top five tips for picking the best middle-name for your child.
1. Don't try to be funny: Names such as "Pilot Inspektor
Lee," "Crystal Chanda Leer" or "Elvis Presley Smith" may be humorous to
you, but won't be to your child if the teacher announces their full
name in class.
2. Shame alert: Make sure that your baby's initials don't
spell something embarrassing. Also, beware of middle names for boys
that sound feminine, like "Francis."
3. No copycats: Children can share rooms, not names. Don't use the same middle name as another sibling.
4. Tongue trouble: Avoid tongue twisters with the first and middle names, like "Aurora Rory."
5. Genealogy 101: If your son has a different middle name than his father, he is not a junior.

Leila, it’s not just on MomLogic— It made international news. I agree that it is ignorant to think that, but I don’t agree with you about MomLogic.
I don’t think Mom Logic was supporting Hillary or Barack. I think that they were more intrigued by all the hoopla is going on. The writer was probably just using his middle name as a jumping off point for middle names in general.
I kind of see what she’s saying about the biased thing. Mom Logic might be doing it without realizing it, but many posts are about Hillary, and there aren’t really very many about Obama. Of course, this is a mom website, but perhaps it could be a little more fair and balanced.
All the hoopla about Obama’s middle name is ridiculous. It speaks to how intolerant we are in the U.S. It truly is shameful. Hussein is an Islamic or Arabic name. Is that what makes it so bad? Im sure there are perfectly nice people with that name who take offense at all the press making it negative.

For some reason Mom Logic seems to be a little biased toward Hillary Clinton. Who cares is if Barack Obama’s middle name is “Hussein”? You have to be pretty ignorant to think that a name is influential on how a candidate is characterized.
