If a new book is to be believed, women are better liars.

We'd be lying if we didn't admit we think we're better liars than men. And according to Susan Shapiro Barash, author of Little White Lies, Deep Dark Secrets: The Truth About Why Women Lie, it's true. Says Barash, "Women lie as a survival technique, but also to get what
they want."

Tell us: In which of these situations do you think it's okay to lie?

To your Boss:
You're about to leave for work and just remembered you volunteered to be a chaperone on your child's field trip. Is it okay to call in sick?
To your Husband:
You bought a $200 pair of shoes without asking your husband first. When he finds them in the closet, do you tell him they were on sale for $35?
To your Child:
You and you husband are thinking of splitting up. When your 4-year-old asks if Mommy and Daddy are getting a divorce, you deny it.

Says Barash, “Women lie as a survival technique, but also to get what they want.” —Way to be misogynistic, Ms. Barash. It’s always disappointing to hear another woman talk like that. There was an infuriating
in the Washington Post this weekend written by a woman titled something along the lines of, “How Dumb Can We Get?” It’s a good read to open your eyes to the idea that there are more Ann Coulter type women out there. I honestly thought she was the only one.

I don’t think it’s okay to lie in any of the three situations..you don’t really need to.

I lied to my boss last year on my second to last day before maternity leave. I still had 2 weeks to go before the baby came and only 2 days of work left. My son’s head start class was going to the zoo and I really wanted to go and he wanted me to go and I knew it would be the last fun thing we could do for awhile. So I went to work at 6:30 for the breakfast shift (I waited tables in a retirement home) and I complained to the other girl that I felt like I was having pains. So after breakfast I sat in my boss’s office and kinda moaned and groaned and then finally told him I thought I needed to go to the hospital so I needed to go home and get my husband. I made it to the school just in time to go to the zoo. WHen he called me later that afternoon I told him the doctor said it was false labor. Turns out I never had any contractions, the next week they scheduled a c-section b/c she was sitting breech. He still wants me to come back to work, big fat lie and all.
