Okay, this is just gross. An Associated Press investigation has found that a vast array of pharmaceuticals—including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones—are in the drinking water of at least 41 million Americans, reports CNN. We called friend of Mom•Logic Dr. Gwenn for her take on the matter.

"To be honest, this story worries me," she admits. "It's alarming to me as a Mom and a pediatrician. I honestly can't see how small exposures of any drug over time are good for any living creature." Her advice to parents? "Bottled water seems to be the safest source of water at the moment, assuming it doesn't come from tapped sources," she says. Dr. Gwenn says we need not only better testing but a better filtration system to remove these drugs from our water supply. We'll drink to that.

I am just totally disgusted by this long list of medications that are in my kid’s drinking water. I would serve them bottled water…but wait, there are BPAs in those. What is safe to drink anymore? And what if you can’t AFFORD bottled water in the first place? As a mom, this just worries me sick. Of course the utility companies tell us this will cause no harm to our kids…but with health and safety there is often no guarantee. I am reminded of that great scene in Erin Brockovich where she says she brought in the water especially for the legal counsel. So funny. And the heartbreaking scene where the woman with cancer yells at her kids to get out of the pool when she realizes it’s the water that likely made her sick. Please, EPA, make the water safe for our children. Our future depends on it.

Hi,
As a concerned and loving father of 3 children not only am I alarmed by what’s in tap water but also at the germs that get transferred thru shared bottled water use. Rest assured a solution to this problem is now available. CISS (sounds like kiss) or container identification scratch system eliminates this problem. Please go to www.musa.com for a picture and description. CISS- Because moms that care about their family’s health and Mother Nature’s wellbeing don’t let their loved ones leave home without a ciss. Thank you, Bob Gold

This is very frightening! This also isn’t that new of an issue. This is why I use Shaklee’s Best Water Systems. The Perfest Pitcher is easy and inexpensive. It is a filtered pitcher you leave in the fridge. You can fill up your water bottles with healthy water and not have to pay for water that may not be safe. The whole line of Shaklee’s BestWater is amazing and trustworthy. There are even guarantees!
Check out Shaklee.com!

This makes me very glad I’m on a well. ^__^ A quick filter and we’re good.

Everyone else is in a lose lose situation. Plastic bottles are bad for the Earth, but tap is bad for us!
