A Florida grandfather, Knutty Frye, (yes, that is his real name) claims if you press the 'F' and 'J' keys simultaneously on a Leapfrog Alphabet Pal Caterpillar, it'll spew out some foul language. When I heard this story and decided to put the allegedly cursing caterpillar to the test.

I found this both amusing and instructive. It only goes to show that even though I have taught many years as a tenured professor at a major university, you’re never too old and wise to learn. I applaud this woman for her candor. And for her bravery to speak truth to power.

I actually noticed the odd behavior of this toy in the store several years ago. If you pressed the F then K keys, or the F then C keys, it would say, “F**k, ahehehe that tickles!”
The manufacturer later revised the toy so that it now giggles and says it tickles between pronouncing the letters.
I later bought a first-generation version of the toy on eBay just to prove to people that it really did swear before.
We have this toy, and it definitely does say bad words. My husband gets it to say “buttfu**er” by pressing the b f and r quickly in a row. There are a few others it says as well, but I can’t think of them off the top of my head!

HA HA! Some friends and I found this in WalMart back in high school (2001 or so) and noticed that if you hit the F and K or F and C, it would say f##k. A while later we tried to show some other friends and all of the good combinations now insert a laugh inbetween the letter sounds.
The caterpillar used to cuss like a sailor, but now just laughs it off. :(

Actually, if you press the ‘F’ key and the ‘K’ key right after, you can get the thing to swear. Great video - I needed that laugh today!
