When Claire drank her own breast milk on America's Next Top Model this week, it brought back memories for momlogic's Jill.
I don't watch America's Next Top Model by choice. But because my teen daughters are shamefully addicted, I end up watching more of it than I care to admit. I have to say, this scene wasn't the first time I've witnessed someone take a swig of breastmilk, but the particularly distasteful part is that it was my own!
Back when I used to pump at the office and store the precious bottles in the staff fridge, everyone I worked with knew NOT to touch them. (In fact, most were repelled by their very existence next to the salad dressing.) But one afternoon, during a corporate meeting break, a visiting executive poured himself a cup of coffee and reached into the fridge for one of my bottles of liquid gold. It all happened in slow motion. He poured it into his cup and lifted it to his mouth as the rest of us watched in disgust and awe. I couldn't let him do it--not only was it gross, but it was way too valuable to waste on him--so I shouted, "That's my breastmilk!" Thankfully for me, I only lost an ounce of breastmilk..but for him, he may have lost his ability to drink milk again without thinking of my breast.

My Avent pump came with great little opaque draw-string bags that my bottles fit right into. It was perfect for concealing my breast milk so as not to completely gross out my coworkers.
