Driving Drunk with Your Kid: Not a Crime?

Richie Sambora not charged with child endangerment after being arrested for DUI.

Sambora was charged last month with driving under the influence while his daughter, Ava, was in the car. According to TMZ, Richie pled no contest yesterday to driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher, but prosecutors did NOT file child endangerment charges.

Sambora will pay a $390 fine plus damages. He'll be placed on three years informal probation and must attend an alcohol education course. Geez, kids get harsher punishment than this just for staying out too late.

Do you think Richie received a slap on the wrist because he's famous? Does the punishment fit the crime?

Of course he received the celebrity treatment… If that had been a normal, non-celebrity citizen, there would not have been a question about whether there was enough evidence to convict him of child endangerment. He blew well above the legal limit with two kids in his car… What other type of evidence is there?
