Is kid couture clothing supposed to be disposable?

Sometimes our mouths water at the adorable designer kid's clothes then we see the price tag and we regain our senses. The reality is that pricey outfit will only look good for a very limited time. Take this 3.1 Phillip Lim  number (originally priced at 265!) made from luxe silk. How long do you think your little fashionista could keep this one clean?  We're guessing about 8 hours. Tops. Click on a time to see what happens.

$265 for a dress for a tot!!!! That is ridiculous!!! I buy all my son’s clothes from ebay or Children’s Orchard…yup I refuse to spend more than $20 on ANYTHING, and typically keep it under $5. He spills food on them, rolls in the mud and all in all is being a kid. There is no reason a little tot should wear expensive clothing like a $265 dress.

I think the dress is beautiful. If I could afford it i’d buy it.

I thought it was made out of toiletpaper until I read the story and realized it was a real dress!

That dress is awful! I bet that little girl doesn’t even like it. No ruffles, sparklies, bows, or pink lace anywhere! I wouldn’t pay 26.50 for it at Target.

That is so true.I’ve seen it happen countless times.Children don’t look at price tags when they are playing. They just go about their day.

Missy April 26, 2008, 3:59 PM

Yeah Right….I wouldn’t pay that much for a dress for myself.

LOL My son doesn’t own anything that cost more than $9.99 (other than a handful of generous gifts), because…what a waste that would be.
