Dying Dad Offers Last Lecture

Beloved professor and father of three, Randy Pausch, faces his battle with terminal pancreatic cancer with surprising optimism.
Last September, Pausch said goodbye to his classes with one last
lecture teaching everyone from his students to his family this lesson:
In the face of adversity, don't complain, just work harder because your
patience will be rewarded.
"We have a finite amount of time. Whether short or long, it doesn't matter. Life is to be lived." Diane Sawyer sits with this inspiring Dad in a special, The Last Lecture: A Love Story For Your Life, airing tonight at 10 p.m. on ABC.
What lesson would you want to teach your kids if you knew you only had a few months left to live?
What an incredible legacy to leave his family. A man of such courage and strength will surely be missed but what he’ll leave behind is invaluable.
Whether you go to heaven or hell you will have FUN! and I bet you will find friends in either place.
Watch out for the HEAD FAKE!!!
I’ve never been so amazed an anyone’s strength. I was totally moved “BEYOND” my experiences of “raising my parents” to be IN THE MOMENT with them and grateful for each and every minute. You and your family are so blessed and I thank you for blessing me and those around you with your bravery, inspiration, and devotion. You take society’s thinking of “it’s all about me” theory and flush it down the toilet. THANKS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!
My prayers go out to you and your family. I am moved by your courage and your braveness, but I am in tears because to leave your kids too soon is a very unfair thing. But they will be so proud. God bless!
This incredible man left not only a great legacy to his family, but a lesson for us all to think about living by ourselves. Prayers to all who knew and loved him.
what a great person i just watched primtime and his story is so amazing. I feel so sorry for the kids. What a brave man!!!
The kids are so lucky to have such a wonderful dad!
This incrediable man not only left a legacy for his children, but left a message that we should all learn and live by his example. Blessings to his family and all those who knew and loved him.
I will always live my life by this man’s way of life. It has touched me far beyond anything else has. I just wish he could always be around and give that lecture everywhere!
I am 65 years old and have never witnessed the bravery, the love and the optimism that was portrayed by Randy and his wife. Where can the book be purchased? What a touching, heartwarming legacy to leave your children. When the book can be purchased, both of my children will get a copy.
How inspiring Randy Pausch is! If you liked “The Last Lecture”, another fantastic memoir I just read and highly recommend is “My Stroke of Insight” by Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. Her TEDTalk video (ted.com) has been seen as many times as The Last Lecture I think, and Oprah did 4 shows on her book, so there are a lot of similarities. In My Stroke of Insight, there’s a happy ending though. It’s an incredible story! I hear they’re making it into a movie.

That dad is so very brave. His family and friends are blessed to have such a person in their lives. My prayers are with them.
