Would you let your teen wear this to prom?

As first reported by khouTV, high-schooler Marche Taylor's unique style not only got her bounced from the formal event, but handcuffed too. A regular teen dating event turned unusual when the high school senior showed up to her Houston prom half naked and she was forbidden to enter for violating the dress code policy. After the high-schooler demanded her money back, an argument ensued and police were called, leading to her arrest.

i think that the dress was no all that bad as people is making it out to be because i wore a two peice dress to prom with my belly out but the only thing difrent is that my skirt was long with a split on the side but were i fault the girl is that if she knew there was a dresscode then she should have followed it but still be creative (if thats what it was all about) its a way to do things and i feel that if she wasnt allowed in then all they had to do was give the girl her money back to keep all the confusion down it was a way for them to do things as well. so im not going to point the finger at one person. people in general needs to learn that its a way to do things in life instead of being harsh about every thing.

So what if her dress was a lil revealing she was just trying to express herself.

I don’t really see anything wrong with it….there are times in your life where you want to be flawless…your high school prom… and your wedding. You have to go all out. I am from Jersey and you will find a handful of seniors dressed like that or worse…

the dress has no kind of taste to it my dress showed my stomach and back but it was still classy and parent approved. The problem with your dress is someone forgot to finish it. Did you really pay for that? I hope you got all the attention you wanted plus more, remember everything you do someone is always watching, especially in the business world!!!

Has anyone noticed the “girl” has a mustache? Student Conduct Handbooks are used at high school for a reason…. too much distraction….or too much skin! My chld would never let me take pictures before she left the house when she dressed for an event but photos were taken as a group and it turn out okay. Parents can fuss till they are blue in the face but a peer or another adult sometimes can be a great mediator in situations like this! This is a skirmish….I pick my battles and this is not one. My daughter is a cancer survivor and now due to chemotherapy to keep her alive she fights diabetes…THAT IS A WAR! Love your children and sometimes allow them to be who they are!

To be honest, her dress is a little too inappropriate for prom. I’m 18 years old and I’m a thin yet curvy girl myself, and I like to show my skin, but not that much. Yeah it’s very unique and beautiful, but you are a young african american female, and you don’t have to reveal that much skin to portray the image of looking beautiful. Beauty comes from within. I know that prom is like a fashion show as of now, but that’s probably not the right way to go, especially if you have younger people who looks up to you. For my prom in 2007, people showed skin, but not as much. In your picture, it looks as if you make a wrong move while dancing, your breast would pop out, and you probably wouldn’t want that to happen. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very cute, but a little too revealing. You probably think otherwise, that’s fine, it’s your prom and your fantasy.

You have to wonder what type of morals and teaching goes on in the home that this child even feels comfortable enough to not only put this on but to think that she looks good enough to walk out in public with it on. The rule of thumb should be if you can’t wear it to church, you can’t wear it out of the house. Where is her mother and why is it alright with her that her child represents her in this manner. A lady should be conservative. There is a way to be the picture of sexy without being adorned in stripper attire. Our young ladies need to see more examples of sexy and not trashy.

i think that mainly, the “girl” should have looked at the guidelines and followed them THROUGHLY”. Even when something big like this pops up, there is no reason for someone like “her” to be flaunting all that. Even though my prom is coming up, i sure as he$@ would not wear something so tacky instyle, no kind of morals, or even something to cover all “that”.. what was she thinking? If i had a child and it came time for her to go on her prom, i would be some what protective of what she is going to wear. I know how boys think and something like this would have sent her somewhere other than my house. i appreciate the fact that they told “her”, but honestly, “her” motha should have stepped up to the plate, and told “her” that she was wrong for wearing such a smutty dress!! oh, and i think all yall got the sex of this person mixed up!! she ain’t a she , she’s a he!!

I don’t have reason to judge this young woman in anyway at all because many girls feel comfortable in very different types of clothing an obviouly this girl liked how she looked. Of course they were not going to let her in to prom dressed like that but how she dresses is her own choice. Today teenage girls are becomming to “open” about the clothes they are waering an belive that it is attractive. Indeed it may be “attractive” but not in the right way. The key when dressing is to leave ALOT to the imangination not let the everything be exposed. I belive this is one huge reason teenage girls today are called the name that they are called. covering yourself up makes you look more mature smart an intelligant.
