Arrested for Prom Dress

Would you let your teen wear this to prom?

As first reported by khouTV, high-schooler Marche Taylor's unique style not only got her bounced from the formal event, but handcuffed too. A regular teen dating event turned unusual when the high school senior showed up to her Houston prom half naked and she was forbidden to enter for violating the dress code policy. After the high-schooler demanded her money back, an argument ensued and police were called, leading to her arrest.

Were im from a dress like that would definatly be frowned upon. For homecoming we are not soposed to even wear backless dresses, now i think that rule is a little ridiculos but the point it you shouldn’t objectify yourself in that way and i think that the reason people wear outfits like that is for attention, and it looks like she got it :) but i do not think it should have been handled so severly. xoxo , MJ

In my opinion this dress reminds me of something that you would see in a Shakira music video; it screams, “Look at me and think of sex!” She would probably be very attractive in a more suitable dress.

hmm well i dont blame the school for not letting her in at all. thats not a apporate thg to wear to a school event.. thats not anything to wear anywere at her age. at our school if a girl came looking liek that she would be called every name in the book. and just look really bad.

i personally like her dress. everyone doesnt like to wear the traditional style. me and my friends didnt our junior year and at our senior prom the younger gurls were wearing dress in the style we had done the year before. i dont think there should be a limit to what ppl can or can not wear. she looked beautiful in her dress. it shouldnt matter where her parents were, maybe they didnt think anything was wrong with the dress their daugher picked out. her parents were letting their daughter be herself. i think more parents should be like that. i wish i could have found a dress like that to wear to my senior prom.

Just because the dress looks nice doesn’t mean we should show up half naked to a SCHOOL function. They could have let it slide, but its common sense that this would provoke some commotion… obviously this is crossing the line.

WELLLLL….. i think the dress is not that bad. At my prom this year(08) I saw dresses waaaayyyyy worse than that, but then again I live in L.A where people dress like Skanks all the time. soo not surprised by the dress. :D

i don’t think it really matters. There are much bigger problems in out world than what a girl wears,or doesn’t wear to prom.

I am usually one who thinks it’s a person’s right to wear what they want, but in this case, this girl should NOT be wearing this to a high school prom. I mean, not only is it against dress code, but it shows a lack of respect for herself. If she doesn’t think she’s good enough to get a guy without wearing this dress, then I truly feel bad for her. She is a beautiful girl, and she doesn’t have to wear this to show it.

i think that if she has the body to rock it then she should be able to wear whatever she wants. its only one night and its not like it really should matter.

I think way too many folks dont understand “Rights, Respect, or Morality”, proof is in the picture and many of these supporting comments. A dictionary and a Bible would be a good start on researching those three words.

Well im from Houston and u would find a dress like that on a hooker on the corner. She should have more respect for her self. My mom would kill me if i left the house in a dress like that. And just because of a nasty little dress like that she had to miss one of the most imprtant part of being a senior… PROM!!!

I don’t think that even counts as a dress! Woah, some people have to learn to be a little more conservative.

I went to that prom and witnessed the dress for myself. The dress fit her personality and when she first arrived she wore with class. Those students paid $150 for their prom tickets, so I think she deserved the right to go into her senior prom.

I think that the dress up top is a little bit too revealing but overall not bad, although I would have chosen a different color.
