Guest blogger Alpha-mom has tips on how working moms can win over the stay-at-home mom crowd...

So you're a working mom and you want to get in with the stay-at-home moms at your kids' school? First of all, you're smart. You should. Stay-at-home moms are up on all the latest gossip about the school, know which teachers to request, and can give you a heads-up on the symptoms of the latest bug that's going around. Whether or not you want to call it a war, there is really no reason for these women to help us out. That said, if you can break the fourth wall and get just one member of the SUV mafia to be your ally, your days just got a hell of a lot easier. Here's my advice to make it happen:

1. Go straight to the top. Just like in business, seek out the mother who is class mom, or active in the PTO, or is otherwise overtly connected to the school network. If you befriend her, she's the only friend you'll need.

2. Be observant. Yes, nobody is as fascinating as your own child, but if you can peel your eyes away for just a second, watch the other kids. It won't take long for you to notice someone else's child doing something really sweet or clever or even funny. Share it with her mom, and watch the doors open.

3. Pay them off. If you work, you probably have the money but not the time. Dig as deep as you can when the opportunity arises. You can bet it will be noticed and your favor will be curried.

4. Give credit where credit is due. Again, just like in the work place, a little acknowledgement goes a long way. If a mom arranged for a fireman to visit, decorated the classroom for a holiday, or was instrumental in lobbying for a new security system to be installed, be sure to thank her properly. And if at all possible, thank her in the form of a handwritten note.

5. Delegate. Let daddy do it. I'm a bitch, and frankly so are at lot of these stay-at-home moms, but even the snarkiest of the bunch melts at a dad holding a Disney Princess lunchbox. Work it.
