New York to recognize out-of-state gay marriages: California will begin issuing marriage licenses to gay couples on June 17th. In another victory for the gay community, Governor David Patterson said New York will recognize gay marriages that are performed out of state. Gay married couples who permanently reside in New York will be given the same rights as other married couples.

George Clooney and girlfriend split: America's most desirable bachelor is available once again. George Clooney and his girlfriend Sarah Larson have reportedly split after a year of dating. The actors rep said "we do not comment on George's personal life."

Woman dies after nearly 60 years in iron lung: Dianne Odell, who was stricken with polio when she was just three years old, died yesterday at the age of 61. Dianne spent her entire life inside a 7-foot-long, 750-pound iron tube to help her breath and died after her family were unable to start a generator to keep the machine running during a power outage. Over her lifetime, Dianne graduated high school, took college courses and wrote a children's book.
