No-brainer ideas for the man in your life to create a day to remember.
In a perfect world, your husband would already have something amazing planned...but, um, he's a guy. So chances are high he's got nothin'. If you're worried you're going to spend the day in front of the TV or chasing your kids around, it might be time to print this out and hand it to your man for inspiration. 'Cause he can't lose with these five day trips provided by momlogic travel correspondent Melanie Galuten.
5 great day trips, all guaranteed to make sure your wife's Mother's Day doesn't suck.
• Pack a picnic and head for a park, beach or lake. Bring her favorite foods
(preferably ones she hasn't had to cook herself)...maybe even real plates and
silverware. Flowers are a nice touch, too. It would also be amazing if you
would get the kids dressed and packed up beforehand. Don't forget the
sunscreen.
• Send her for a day at the spa. Book her appointment RIGHT THIS SECOND...pre-pay, and make sure tip is included. She doesn't want to worry about a thing today, and she will love you for doing all the legwork.
• Take a family hike. Bring a few sweet treats for the end, like some
chocolate chip cookies. (Don't stress...Nestle Toll House will do.)
• Brunch at an upscale hotel is always fancy schmancy. Make it an adventure...
'kidnap' her and take her to brunch in a nearby town. But make reservations
NOW -- the good places tend to fill up fast, and no one wants to endure a
two-hour wait on Mother's Day.
• Let her have a "day trip" of her own...to the movies, without children. You be the babysitter while she has a few hours of solitude, enjoying a chick flick in peace. The upside: This means you won't have to sit through it with her when it comes out on DVD. (Made of Honor, anyone?)
Okay, you've got one day to plan a day she'll never forget...so get busy!
