Shocking Polygamy Photos Surface

Thursday, May 29, 2008

Pictures are now evidence in a custody battle over a 1-week-old baby.

Photos have surfaced of polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs kissing young girls. Texas Child Protective Services lawyers claim the girl in one of the photos is his 12-year-old bride. Twelve. When asked about the picture in court, FLDS polygamist Dan Jessop said, ""I do not consider a girl kissing a man sex abuse." We beg to differ.

An affidavit filed by state officials depicts a religious culture rife with sexual abuse of young teenage girls, reports NPR. Texas Child welfare officials allege that for generations, women in the polygamist group were taught to prepare themselves and their daughters for sexual relations with older men as soon as they reached puberty.

"There is horrific abuse of children," says cult expert Rick Ross. "The abuse becomes acute in this group once the kids reach puberty. Most of the girls are married or pregnant at 13 or 14.

"Parents have perpetuated systematic abuse for generations," he says. "I'm sure they love their children, but they are willing to cooperate with mandated sexual abuse of chlildren. They don't see it that way. They see this as holy and sacred--but it's sexual abuse and exploitation, bottom line."

What do you think?

Polygamy is a social construct, not a sexual behavior, but when people criticize the FLDS beliefs they concentrate on sex because our entire society is barely afloat in a sea of sexual images, thoughts, and perversions. The preoccupation with sex skews the way people think. In this situation they are so enthralled with stories of teenage brides and the sexual habits of the elderly that they forget that over 450 children have been severely damaged by being taken from their mothers. For example, I have seen a picture posted of fourteen year-old Elissa Wall being fitted for a wedding dress, purportedly showing that she had been crying “for three days” because she didn’t want to marry nineteen year-old Alan. But how many pictures would we be able to stomach of crying children being ripped away from their helpless mothers? How would the critics of the Jeffs photos above react to seeing pictures of the nursing baby who was left by the CPS in a stroller for twenty-four hours in the Coliseum after he was taken from his mother? The baby became so dehydrated that he became lethargic, went into shock and had to be hospitalized. Or how would we react to the picture of terror in the four year-old, left behind, utterly alone in an empty Coliseum, overnight, only to be found by cleaning crews the next day? Or pictures of the Keate children when they discovered that their parents were only visiting the foster home, and were not there to rescue them? There are no pictures, but we all should be able to picture these things.

The men who prey on these youngsters should be given life w/o parole. These heathen men are committing acts of incest, rape, child abuse, etc., in the name of some idol, because the one true God, Jesus Christ, never okayed little girls being forced into unlawful marriages to young lustful men or old geezers no more than he okayed old women forcing themselves upon young, handsome boys. These girls/women are being deprived of their Constitutional Rights, and, yes, females, all females, have rights.

I don’t agree the children should have been taken away from their mothers and not taken care of. But, then, I also don’t want to see pictures of an old man kissing a twelve year old. Both make my stomach sick. Also, when I think of polygamy, I don’t think of sex. I think it is just another religion. Everyone is entitled to what they believe and how they want to live. I don’t know enough about the religion to make a judgement. Obviously, the news is only going to report the bad stuff and nothing good.

What part of this isn’t clear? These men are abusers! And just as it would be the case in any family, a mother who stands by or supports the sexual abuse of her own child, is just as guilty. This so called “religion” is merely a cover, an outlet for sexual perverts, and our courts are about to send those children right back to them. Sick.

My family are mormons of a lds church in Houston, and I know we are totally against this in every way. First, it seems like those who are not against this are blinded and forget that God is watching over us. WWJD? I don’t think he intended for children to have children, or for men old enough to be grandparents in some cases to marry and have sexual intercourse with a young girl who should be interested in boy bands or going out and hanging with friends her own age. Yes everyone is entitled to their own religion, but when a child’s life is being altered to live a life of a grown woman, we should think twice about this. It is also hard to critisize such a thing when you have young girls like “jamie lynn spears” having kids at a young age. But this girl at least had a choice in life. Maybe these men do love these young girls as if age was nothing but a number, but what are they in love with. I had nothing intellegent to discuss with an older man at that age, let alone share any part of my self. We have to really ask ourselves would it be disgusting to see an older man having his tounge down a twelve year olds throat a few feet away because it just looks wrong or because deep down we know in God’s eyes it is wrong?I also am against taking children from their parents. In this case I feel if it helped at least one of those young girls see a different point of view, then it was worth it. We have to realize that abuse (sexual, mental, physical)happens all over the world. Some cases are worse than others, but again in God’s eyes it all weighs out the same. No matter what your opinion was toward this case, these children had to be abuse in some way.If these men are ready to touch these girls as soon as they hit puberty, it makes you wonder how they would look at them before then. Love does not happen over night. I think these mothers are at fault to a certain extent. We have to remember they all went through it. If they grew up in this “religion” then they probably don’t know any better. Most of these women seem spacey and strongly believe they

Missy and Spinazi: Polygamy is not a religion, it is a cult. Everyone IS entitled to their religion and beliefs as long as it doesn’t infringe on another’s rights. Many of the mothers in this cult are children who have been FORCED to lose their innocence and FORCED into unlawful marriage and motherhood before their reproduction organs have really had a change to fully develop. Incest is dangerous because interbreeding causes birth defects and/or mental illness, and this “religion” cult engages in incest. How would YOU like this done to you at age 12, 13, or 14, by someone you don’t even know? It is our duty to protect as many children as we possibly can everywhere possible, and we have to TRY to help all children have a normal childhood and excel. Unfortunately, we’re unable to help them all, but we try to help as many as possible. Children is America’s most valuable resource. Maybe you could spend your time and energy helping just one child grow up and have good childhood memories when they do finish high school and, hopefully, college.

I do believe that the way the state handled the takeing of the children wrong and should of not have taken them all at once there had to of been a way so the things like the baby almost dieing or the 4 year old left over night alone, did not happen because this does not say “we are here to help”. And just because a warrant was issued for all the children, once it was clear that the number of all the children was to much for the Child Protection Agency, to handle they should of only taken the girls that were say 10 & up they after all are the ones being abused and in the most immediate danger. Then take count and get all the others names an ages, the parents names, addresses,SS#, D.L.#, and then go back for the rest after some arrangments of some kind had been set up or organized. And even if because of lawyers or a judge the others stayed at least the most at risk are out of there and the state would not of looked so cold and would not of put innocent childrens lives in danger like it did. Nothing like that should of happened to any of those kides especialy in the name of “Were here to save or protect you”. How ever that was in charge made and did not handle this thing well!!!

Imagine if the “gay” community got the same level of attention. The howls of “homophobia” would be deafening.

1. Polygamy 2. Incest 3. Child Predators 4. Sex 5. Legal issues 6. Religion 1. Polygamy is natural and energy efficient. The animal kingdom uses Polygamy from monkeys to ants. 2. Incest is biologically dangerous but also a way to eliminate a group when they become incapacitated, natural selection. 3. Animals protect their young from being eaten but at sexual maturity, they become fair game for mating. The older stronger usually get their way. The young may or may not enjoy the relationship, they have no choice. In humans, we consider the enjoyment by all participants. We also consider psychological problems when dealing with society. In closed societies, this is normal and the children don’t suffer social trauma. The big issue is forcing the relationship weather painful or not. We do allow, even in the USA arranged marriages, which are a form of Child Predatory behavior. Even if the ‘child’ is in their 20’s, their emotional subservience to their controlling elders equates to Child Predatory relations. 4. Nature provides reproduction around the age of 12. This is a good time for the female body to reproduce and return to a pre-pregnancy health state. If a 12 year old male and 12 year old female were on a desert island they probably would explore and engage in sexual relations i.e. “The Blue Lagoon” (1980). A beautiful exploration of love and sex on a natural schedule. 5. Our society makes laws to reflect real and/or artificially created rationale. Inbreeding being real, ‘what’s right’ being artificially created. 6. Religion is the worst offender. Since the ‘right to believe’ what you want in religion is all-over-the-board on what is right. At times the same religion promotes a behavior it later prohibits. One religion vs another, make the same behavior right or wrong depending on the controlling directors of the religion. Catholic’s have protected child molesters at great expense to the victims, others allow “honor killings” as if beheading is justified for adultery. Truly, this discussion is not about Polygamy, it’s about rape, and imprisonment. Polygamy by itself is a beautiful thing; loving people together to make a family, helping, and supporting each other, raising their group of children, building a home. Child, or adult, Predatory behavior is always wrong. Consent is necessary and mandatory for a justified relationship. Children by definition are not able to consent. They are unable to determine if a relationship

They are unable to determine if a relationship is good for them and they are too weak to object against a strong aggressor. Adults are too often victim to Predatory behavior, and this is seen in date rape, date with the use of disabling drugs, and rape by psychological pressure (take the case of the student repeatedly forced into a closet to perform oral sex on a teacher, done days apart and the girl didn’t report it for fear of her family’s safety). Extreme and severe punishment should be in place for Predatory behavior. It isn’t. Societies should not be closed. They are allowed to be. Those who don’t want government to insert itself into their business are trying to hide bad behavior. The photos above are disturbing because we know the girl is unable to say no, and has no way to report it without fear of life threatening reprisals. 1. Polygamy - Yes - for consenting adults 2. Incest - No - for damage to those born with birth defects 3. Child Predators - No - Severe punishments should be in place 4. Sex - Yes - Always beautiful and good if the participants are in control and agree 5. Legal issues - Yes - Only way to protect victims 6. Religion - No - Always intended to control others. Is immoral my nature disguised by some good deeds and many bad ones. If law makers did their job, (Child) Predators would be arrested and prosecuted without consideration to religious preferences. But this country still can’t get the separation of church and state right. Look at Prop 8 in California. How immoral is that? Church groups have hijacked the word marriage. The state has succumbed to state in servitude to church. Religion 1, morality 0. • Sandy above says ‘one true god’; “Polygamy…is a cult.” “Everyone IS entitled to their religion and beliefs as long as it doesn’t infringe on another’s rights”; (this thinking is what causes these problems) Religion always infringes on other’s rights (i.e. Prop 8); She’s wrong! • Missy - believes Polygamy is a religion; wrong • parriss39 - thinks the children should stay until later; remember Jonestown, Heaven’s Gate, etc.?; Wrong! • formerldsmember - thinks “God is watching over us” - Well then don’t do anything, God will take care of it, right?; Wrong!
